- With your application you must provide a description of the solar panels, stating the brand and type. The same applies to the home battery.
- Do you already have solar panels on the roof? Then you can also choose to take out an Energy Savings Loan for a home battery.
- It is not possible to take over already rented solar panels with the Energy Saving Loan. Solar panels must be purchased new and installed on your own property near your home.
- It is possible to have solar panels installed on your shed roof. Please note that the solar panels must in all cases be used privately (not for business).

Net metering arrangement extended until 2025
Owner-occupiers with solar panels on their roof can supply excess electricity back to the grid at market rates for longer. The government only wants to simplify the so-called netting scheme from 2025, while this would previously have been the case from 2023.

The VAT on solar panels has been abolished from 1 January 2023. VAT will be reduced from 21% to 0%. This so-called zero rate only applies if the solar panels are installed on homes or outbuildings of a home, such as a shed. Private individuals then no longer have to reclaim the VAT from the Tax and Customs Administration. Less administration for private individuals and the Tax Authorities By reducing VAT from 21% to 0%, private individuals no longer have to reclaim VAT from the tax authorities when purchasing solar panels.
